Michigan State Assistance

Michigan has a huge young population of almost two and a half million. Out of these, nearly 34% live with single parents and 6% have no kind of medical cover. A conservative 8% live in crowded houses. This puts the state of Michigan in neither of the extremes in terms of the state of the single parents and their children. The state runs various welfare programs to help single mother fulfill their professional and personal duties smoothly.

Childcare: There is nothing more comforting for a single mother than the fact that her children are in a safe and comfortable environment. However, with the escalating childcare costs, it might not be a possibility for all single mothers to afford quality childcare, especially if they completely depend of their single source of income. To assist you in with affordable childcare, the Department of Human Services runs the state child care program. This program runs various parental supporting schemes for eligible families and single mothers.

Healthcare: Healthcare is another big concern for the state of Michigan. The state runs three different health care programs for Children,Families, & Pregnant Women. These programs make available affordable healthcare facilities to state residents who might not have direct access to quality healthcare.

Food & Supplies: Without a regular and secure source of income, even basic amenities like putting food on the table can get a challenging endeavor. To assist low income and needy single mothers and their families in fulfilling their basic needs, the state runs the Family Independence program. This programs aims at making available basic needs like food, shelter, clothing etc.

Rent Assistance: The state of Michigan runs rent assistance program through its Housing choice voucher rental assistance program. This is a federal funded program which aims at assisting low income families with affordable quality housing options and rental assistance schemes.

Educational Grants: Finishing your college and university education was never as easy as it is today. With all the support mechanisms available, with a strong will, even being a single mother should not be able to deter your spirit of getting a college education. There is support available at both state and federal level for single mother planning to go back to school. The state runfinancial aid programs are very lucrative and attract a number of students every year.

Transportation: Majority of urban Michigan can pose some transport related problems to the single mothers of the state. There are multiple transport options available which make commuting a lot easier and comfortable for single mothers who are dependent on public transport to travel to and from work.
