Delaware State Assistance

About 24% of the total population of the state of Delaware is of 18 years of age or below. Over 38% of the child population lives with single parents and about 7% of the child population lives in crowded houses. The residents of Delaware have an average per capital personal income of $40, 608 which ranks it at Rank 12 among the overall ranking of the 50 US states for single moms bring up kids on their own. For the unique requirements of a single mother, the state of Delaware has taken adequate steps to share this responsibility in bringing up the resident kids of the state. Below are some of the helpful schemes and programs that can aid single mothers.

Childcare: For the biggest need of any working single mother, the State of Delaware runs Child care services that facilitate single mothers with jobs to be able to take care of both their jobs, as well as their parental responsibilities at the same time. The state runs licensed child care centers that are specialized in providing quality and affordable childcare to working single mothers.

Healthcare: The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services runs the Delaware Healthy Children program that aims at providing low cost healthcare to children who are uninsured or underinsured. This plan covers resident kids who are under the age of 19. The Medicaid program of the state also assists low-income families with medical services. Another General Assistance program run by the name of Temporary assistance of Needy Families provides cash assistance to needy families. This is a state funded program and is positioned to help families who do not qualify for federal funded programs.

Food & Supplies: There are three major food and supplies programs run by the state of Delaware. These are as follows. The Delaware Food Stamps program supports low-income families by offering them affordable nutritious food items. The Temporary assistance of Needy Families program also offers need based help in securing nutritious diet to low-income needy families. The third program, run by the name of Women, Infants and Children supports pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants and children below the age of 5 with nutritious and healthy food supplies.

Rent Assistance: The US Department of Housing and Urban development runs various housing programs that can offer comfortable and affordable housing options. Alternatively, you also have the option to choose from housing choice vouchers or the rent assisted apartments.

Educational Grants: There are various local grants and aids for residents of Delaware that will allow single mothers to live their dreams of a quality higher education. For more information contact the Delaware Higher Education Office. You always have the option to apply for federal education aid in the form FAFSA for various grants, scholarships and aid options.

Transportation: A robust and efficient public transportation system is a must to facilitate free movement and mobility of the workforce of the state residents. The state of Delaware has an extensive connection of roads and bridges and a dependable public transport system in place.
