Kentucky State Help for single mothers.

The state of Kentucky has a poor personal per capita income at $31,111. Almost a million of the total four and a quarter million resident of the state are under the age of 18. 34% if these children are being brought up by single parents in the state. To help and support these single parents in single handedly running the households, managing their jobs and taking care of their children at the same time, the state runs several assistance programs. Some programs are direct aid programs and some provide indirect assistance.

Childcare: Someone to take care of the children when you are away to school or work rids a single mother of a great load of her worries. However, this is not usually very affordable. Understanding this, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services runs the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) to allow quality childcare services to single mothers when they are away to work, training or attending school. You might also be entitled to certain other monetary subsidies.

Healthcare: The state of Kentucky runs the Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program that is a unique program for single mothers and low-income families who cannot afford private insurance for their families. The program insures children assuring them of quality medical services when in need. You can also opt for Medicaid services from the Department for Medicaid Services.

Food & Supplies: The state runs the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) formerly known as the Food Stamps program helps single mothers who have a hard time arranging food for their children putting nutritious meals on the table. These benefits go a long way for single mothers who have to pay for all other household expenses with their single incomes.

Rent Assistance: The state of Kentucky runs Rental Assistance programs through its agency, the Kentucky Housing Corporation. These programs allow low-income families to pay for quality comfortable housing. This is a federal aided program with assistance from the federal government. Educational Grants: Having that college degree can bring about a lot of change in your personal and professional life. Being a single mother, it might get a little hard to pay high tuition fee to colleges and universities. There is aid available to pay your tuition at both state and national lever. You can apply to the federal funded FAFSA or can apply for special Grant Programs for Kentucky Residents.

Transportation: Transportation is one aspect of our daily life that eats up a lot of time and energy. If you need to drive long distances to get to work, it not only escalates cost but also lessens your overall productivity. The state public transport system in the state of Kentucky can offer you a cheaper and comfortable mode of transportation to travel to and from work or school.
